About PM&D Engineering

Pro-MoDr (promotor) products are transient voltage surge suppressors (TVSS or SPD) designed to limit impulse voltages so that damage to electrical insulation and electronics is prevented.  Protected equipment includes electric motors and cables, variable speed drives and switchboards or control panels.

Dissipative Array Systems (DAS) that prevent lightning strikes to tank batteries have proven to be far more effective than conventional lightning rods or overhead wires.  Attracting a lightning bolt and getting it safely into the ground without igniting natural gas has never been more than marginally successful.  DAS, a registered trademark of LEC Inc., repels direct lightning strikes via a cold corona process.  This is alternatively known as a charge transfer system, CTS.

Founder and owner Dr. Tom Brinner has over 33 years of oilfield experience specializing in product design and innovations.  He has worked in various capacities for the three major ESP companies and has run PM&D Engineering for the past 11 years.  He is a nationally recognized expert in oilfield surge suppression, cf. Professional Papers.  Customers can benefit from Dr. Brinner’s extensive electrical engineering knowledge and experience not only through Pro-MoDr’s advanced technology but also through professional analysis of oilfield electricity and consulting services.

About Our Products

Pro-MoDr TVSS products were developed and tested specifically for rugged oilfield use and are manufactured in the USA.  Testing at major lightning simulation laboratories was necessary to verify operation to specifications and insure product safety.  Pro-MoDr products are the most advanced surge suppression equipment on the market today and are used by major and independent oil producers in both domestic and international oilfields.

DAS® equipment manufactured by LEC has evolved from initial designs done in 1971.  It has a nearly 100% lightning strike prevention record in other industries and is now experiencing tremendous success stopping tank battery damage.
